Episode 4
When the Pharisee Nicodemus came to Jesus at night, Jesus said to him: “ …unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God”
He continues: “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit”
It was a serious message Jesus brought.
We see this especially when Paul the Apostle writes about the same thing in his Epistle to the Galatians: “For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh”
These two forces in a human being therefore stand in a struggle of life and death, where only one of them can rule in that person’s life. How should I relate, as a Christian who wants to do God’s will, to such a struggle? Here I cannot be indifferent. If I want to live wholeheartedly for Jesus, I must take my stand on the side of the Spirit, even if it leads me into trials and suffering. But then I will also be able to experience the power of the Spirit in my own life.
