Clement of Rome is the third of the so-called Apostolic Fathers, together with Ignatius of Antioch and Polycarp of Smyrna. Clement was the bishop of Rome late in the first century, and has left an important text, one of the few remaining Christian texts from the first century outside of the Bible.
Clements epistle to the Corinthians addresses divisions in the Corinthian church that has come as a result of pride and envy. Clements exhorts the church to humility and submission to the teaching of the Apostles.
His letter is full of strong exhortations and stern warnings. But also hopeful promises and a sincere love for all the Christians in Corinth. His wish was that they all could be saved from sin and be partakers of the glorious promises of the gospel.
