Sincere, truth-seeking, and God-fearing people have at all times longed to follow Jesus. Reading what such people have written is very impactful, and it often makes a deep impression.
One person who was characterized by such a strong longing, and who also received a special grace from God to write down his thoughts and longings, was the German preacher and author Georg Steinberger.
Steinberger was German, born in 1865, and he lived a relatively short and simple life. But in his short lifetime, he left deep marks, both through his way of life and through his literature.
Steinberger’s literature has since his death been read by many sincere Christians, and especially the book “In the Footprints of the Lamb” has been widely read. He is part of a long tradition of Christians who seeks in truth to follow Jesus—who have urged that our Christian life only becomes true, genuine, and fully satisfying when we follow Jesus in His footsteps, as Peter exhorts.
